Mental Health College Guide
Did you know 75% of all mental health conditions begin by age 24? That's why the college years are so critical for understanding and talking about mental health, and why NAMI partnered with the Jed Foundation to develop the Mental Health College Guide.
Going to college is a big step, and big steps come with excitement, the unknown, and, usually, a healthy amount of stress. That's not only ok, but it's to be expected. And it's the reason this guide was designed by-and for-college students.
The guide covers topics from self-care to getting mental health care support, to legal rights and self-advocacy. Check it out here.
Creating Connections Through Conversations
"NAMI Say It Out Loud" Virtual Card Game
Created by young people for young people, NAMI Say It Out Loud is a free online card game that will bring you closer to your friends through conversation prompts about life, relationships, and mental health.
Best played on a mobile device, among 3-6 people, NAMI Say It Out Loud is made up of three card decks - Whisper It, Say It, and Shout It - with prompts that start at the surface and dig deeper as you play.
From questions about what makes you cringe to how you bring up your own mental health with friends, NAMI Say It Out Loud helps you explore how you and your friends approach mental health and well-being.
Included in the prompt cards are wild cards and wellness cards, which help mix up the conversations, like suggesting you give the person next to you a compliment or encouraging a stretch break.
NAMI Say It Out Loud can be used in almost any context - to change up game night, during a kickback with your roommates, at your sorority or fraternity meeting - the possibilities are endless!
NAMI Say It Out Loud was co-created by our 2022 NAMI Next Gen, a group of young adult advisory members.
